Misleading TV Storyline

ITV’s popular drama The Royal featured a storyline about HD. It was slightly misleading as it was claimed there was no genetic test, however the programme is set in the 1960s and that would be accurate for that time period. HD has featured in a number of programmes over the past few years, some were more true to life than others, however they have raised awareness of HD to many thousands of homes throughout the UK: the Eastenders storyline (good) and Holby City (at best misleading and at worst wholly inaccurate).

The SHA is often approached by TV production companies and newspapers wanting to feature families. If you or your family would be interested in raising awareness of HD through speaking to the press or appearing on a programme, please contact head office on 01505 322245.
